The American Financial Meltdown is still raging in the winter of 1934. In Duluth, Minnesota, at a run-down board-house, the repercussions are most noticeable. While his wife Elizabeth continues to struggle with dementia and occasionally displays some signs of mental alertness, the property's owner Nick Laine fights to prevent the bank from seizing the building. He has been having an affair with one of the tenants, Mrs. Neilsen, but is she really what he needs?

There are problems with Nick and Elizabeth's off-spring as well. Gene has a problem with alcohol and no clear direction in life, and Marianne is unmarried and five months pregnant. Visitors and various eccentric locals come and go, each with their own mysteries and backstories. Amidst the poetic music of Bob Dylan, their secrets—which range from imprisonment to blackmail to morphine addiction—are steadily revealed.

This show is certain to delight even the most picky viewers with its terrific plot, as indicated by the various positive reviews. The best place to see it is at Procter & Gamble Hall at Aronoff Center, Cincinnati, Ohio, so be sure to set aside time for it, and you'll be in for something truly special.
