Broadway, New York is the foundation of an additional world-class play, The Lion King, as it continues its successful run with one more limited showing to be performed on Tuesday 16th June 2026 in Procter & Gamble Hall at Aronoff Center, located in Cincinnati, Ohio. With awe-inspiring decorations and acoustics seen both inside and outside the said theater, audiences have proclaimed that Procter & Gamble Hall at Aronoff Center continues to be one of their top show venues all over the world.
The musical tells the tale of growth of a young lion cub called Simba, who is the only successor to lead as the King of the Pride Lands following his father. The African savanna however is no stranger to political machinations, as even in this often lighthearted plot, disaster appears when the young lion's father and King is killed because of the betrayal of his estranged uncle Scar, who harbors a secret hatred for the King of these lands. The fledgling cub fears for his own life and goes into hiding lasting a long period of time. While away in the forest, he encounters new acquaintances, Timon and Pumbaa, who encourage him to forget his past and live life on his own terms. the young prince's happy-go-lucky mindset then turns upside down when he once more encounters his long-time friend Nala, who shares the plight of the people with him and appeals to him to overthrow his abusive uncle.
This heartfelt and personal narrative of tragedy, strong bonds, and fearless leadership is enhanced by the iconic and emotional music, written by Elton John and Tim Rice. Their original compositions, partnered with more music and lyrics from big names like Zimmer, Lebo M, Mark Mancina, Jay Rifkin, and director Julie Taymor have contributed to the immense success of The Lion King not just in the United States, but also in Europe and Asia performances.
The original stage adaptation began on July 8, 1997, at the Orpheum theater in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The musical was received so well by fans and achieved almost instant success, ending up to the musical's move and beginnings on the Broadway stage on October 15, 1997. Now running for more than two decades since its first showing, be one of the lucky ones to witness the third longest-running musical from Broadway, New York as it comes to Ohio.
