With rampant corruption, unemployment, and abuse in the historic 19th century French Revolution, a convicted criminal by the name of Jean Valjean escapes his parole after nineteen years on the chain gang. Though initially lucky in building his new life, hidden from his nemesis Javert, Jean Valjean is unfortunately pulled in the uprising of the commoners of Paris, France, wherein Valjean is compelled to make choices that would affect both himself and his adopted daughter, Cosette.

This story of Les Mis, full of love and loss, has been running for roughly 40 years in several venues over many different countries. Ever since its debut in its home of Paris in the late 20th century, it has proven its worth not only as one of the most second to none shows of the past 4 decades, but also one of the highly nominated and most-awarded as well. In 1987 on its own, it topped the list of nominees and awardees of the acclaimed Tony Awards, with 12 nominations in total and 8 wins.
