The Lion King at Procter & Gamble Hall

Listed currently as the third of Broadway’s longest-running musicals of all time, The Lion King has continued to amaze audiences worldwide with multiple tours that have performed in not just several locations in the U.S., but also South America, Europe, and Asia among others. On June, it adds one other to its visited locations as The Lion King musical will be arriving in Procter & Gamble Hall at Aronoff Center at Cincinnati on Wednesday 17th June 2026!

Disney's The Lion King, since its first production and adaptation to the live stage in 1997, has undoubtedly continued to be one of the top Broadway musicals. With a classic story adapted beautifully to theater with the unique introduction of life-sized animal puppets and an African-inspired song list and compositions, the Broadway show was regarded as an awe-inspiring shock to both fans of the original motion picture as well as entirely brand new audiences.

In addition to a show with a strong plot, the musical is also certainly one of the most applauded plays in every single award season it was part of. In just a year after its first performance, the Broadway show was nominated for over 20 awards, winning 6 Tony awards in that year alone including Best Musical, Best Scenic Design (by Richard Hudson), Best Choreography (by Garth Fagan), Best Lighting Design (by Donald Holder), Best Direction of a Musical and Best Costume Design (by Julie Taymor). The award bestowed for Best Direction of a Musical is considered important, as Julie Taymor is the first female director to ever receive the award.

Still standing tall, the Broadway hit carried on to take all the awards and commendations with again over 70 major theater awards and nominations received. In its several seasons and shows across the globe, it has been granted awards by numerous organizations including but not limited to the NY Drama Critics Circle, The Grammys, the Laurence Olivier Awards, the Molière Awards, and the Helpmann Awards.
