Listed currently as the third of Broadway’s longest-running productions of all time, Disney’s The Lion King has brought the 1994 original film to life with numerous tours that have performed in not just many locations in the United States, but also Canada, South America, and Europe among others. On June, it adds another to its list of productions as Disney's The Lion King will be performing in Procter & Gamble Hall at Aronoff Center at Cincinnati on Sunday 14th June 2026!
The renowned musical, since its creation and transfer to the Broadway stage in 1997, has changed the landscape of Broadway and theater entirely. With a classic narrative brought to life on stage with the special approach of life-sized animal puppets and an African-inspired song list and choreography, The Lion King was referred to as an awesome surprise to both fans of the previous film and even brand new theatergoers.

The award bestowed for Best Direction of a Musical is considered major, as Julie Taymor is the first female director to ever receive the award.

In the show's multiple tours and performances in several countries, it has been presented awards by numerous organizations including the NY Drama Critics Circle, The Grammys, the Laurence Olivier Awards, the Molière Awards, and the Helpmann Awards.
