Hamilton at Procter & Gamble Hall

Musical writer Lin-Manuel Miranda, fresh off his success from his last Broadway play, In the Heights, conceptualized Hamilton for a number of years before it opened in the Richard Rodgers Theatre in 2015. It was in this first run that he also acted the role of Hamilton. The entirety of the show, including its brilliant cast and amazing score received extremely positive reviews from both critics and the audiences alike.

The show, as almost all know, is a historical story created about one of Americas Founding Fathers, but the show takes a new and modern approach, as seen in the music styles used and more so in its multicultural cast. Also, the 2016 Tony Awards, where the show took home 11 out of 16 nominations, is a display of its success. the production’s debut cast consisted of the actors, Philippa Soo, Leslie Odom Jr., and Jonathan Groff. Individually, the cast was already filled with both famous nominees and awardees, but their varied and memorable performances taken collectively brought the production to a brand-new level. The production team, just as incredibly talented, collected Tony Awards for Hamilton. Thomas Kail for Best Direction, Andy Blankenbuehler for Best Choreography, Alex Lacamoire for Best Orchestrations, Howell Binkley for Best Lighting Design of a Musical, Paul Tazewell for Best Costume Design of a Musical, and of course Lin-Manuel Miranda himself for Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical, all stole the show at the 70th Tony Awards. Above all and unsurprisingly, the production also took home Best Musical for the year. The current cast and production crew in each new venue where Hamilton is put on brings the same grit and excitement in their runs, with glowing reviews posted regularly.

The production’s meteoric rise to fame led to opening many doors worldwide for the fans to experience Hamilton. It has continued for the past decade to perform not just on Broadway, but also on London’s West End and in various venues across Asia. Hamilton’s limited season will be making its way to Cincinnati throughout December (and on Saturday 27th December 2025) at Procter & Gamble Hall at Aronoff Center, selling out at one more world-class stage with the greatest facilities and sound engineering that could surpass even Broadway and West End theaters.
